Navajo Reversible Bear Paw Pendant with Chain

You get two in one in this sterling silver Navajo pendant!  One side has turquoise set in a graceful vine and leaf setting.  The other side is turquoise set in a shadowbox bear paw.  It comes with an 18" sterling silver chain. More about bears below.  This pendant was in a collection that we bought in the 1990s.

Bears are the guardians of the western gate in Zuni Pueblo.  They are associated with healing at all levels, protection, and a reminder to restore oneself during the winter months.  In some traditions a part of the bear is rubbed all over infants to imbue them with power, strength, and good health.
